Corvara in Badia / Corvara, Italia
Familie Kostner — Posta Zirm
A four-star hotel in the centre of Corvara in Badia at 1,568 m, at the foot of the Sellaronda and the Alta Badia ski area, run by the Kostner family since 1908 and now in its fourth generation. It trades as Posta Zirm Hotel S.r.l. (VAT and tax code IT00475610218, REA BZ-79092, share capital €100,000, registered with the Bolzano chamber of commerce in 1977; CIN IT021026A1AMJKHB8U). The building dates from 1808; Franz Kostner acquired the Posta in 1908 on returning from a Himalaya expedition and in the 1930s built the Col Alt chairlift, the first in Italy. The family operates a campus of three adjacent buildings on Strada Col Alt rather than a dispersed group. The hotel at number 95 has 120 beds across 13 published room categories, from a double standard to a grand suite, and a 950 m² Wellness-Farm laid out on Feng-Shui principles with laconicum, Finnish sauna, frigidarium and Kneipp, tepidarium, calidarium, infrared cabin, aroma showers, indoor pool, gym and a massage and beauty area. Treatments include the Phytomassopodia method taught by the Wellness from Feet Academy and LNB pain-therapy programmes, both of which the house has attracted Italian press coverage for. A convention centre inside the hotel seats 15 to 45. The Posta Zirm Residence at number 93 is a separate accommodation entity in the regional register and consists of NINE named apartments in one building — Gran Val and Marmolada at 90 m², Cir, Rütort and Sassongher at 80 m², Ciampac at 73 m², Boé at 70 m², and Colalto and Settsass at 40 m² — sleeping between two and six people each, 48 in total, all on the first or second floor. Residence guests may use the hotel's pool and spa free of charge in the morning and for €12 per person per access in the afternoon, and may take half board at the hotel on request. The Taverna, which entertained generations of Corvara as a dance club, reopened in June 2014 as an à la carte restaurant, grill and pizzeria with its own telephone line and a menu built around Ladin dishes and vegetarian and vegan cooking. The house is also a founding member of the Golf Club Alta Badia and gives its guests 20% off the green fee there. Filed accounts show a business growing steadily: turnover €5,135,937 in 2023, €5,322,934 in 2024 and €5,804,822 in 2025, with net profit rising from €245,548 to €559,912 over the same period and 59 people employed. Published winter 2026/27 rates run from €221 to €430 per person per night half-board across four seasonal bands, and from €300 to €524 per apartment per night in the residence. A meta-review score of 97 out of 100 across 94 reviews places it in the top 14% of hotels in its town. COMMERCIALLY THE STRIKING FACT IS HOW LITTLE SOFTWARE SITS BETWEEN THIS HOUSE AND ITS GUESTS. There is no online booking engine of any kind: every reservation control on the site — including on each of the nine apartments — is an enquiry form, and even the 'Book now' button on the hiking-consortium profile links back to the hotel's own offers page. There is no gift voucher or gift card, no membership scheme, no guest login and no newsletter sign-up anywhere on the estate, and the property is not distributed through the South Tyrolean regional booking rail: its Open Data Hub record carries no booking channel and no room inventory. The site itself is a bespoke build by Explico, a web agency in Pordenone and Cortina d'Ampezzo, on a proprietary CMS whose script still carries a 2013 copyright line, with jQuery 1.10 and a CreateJS animation for the interactive building map. The three third-party systems in use are the HOGAST co-operative's payment widget for deposits and final payments, Tippthek for a guest-information web app, and Cookiebot for consent, with Google Tag Manager for analytics. It is a house of €5.8M and 59 staff that takes its bookings by telephone, e-mail and web form — and, judging by three consecutive years of growth and a 97/100 review score, does so successfully.
