Grand Hotel Palace Meran (Palace Merano)

A five-star medical spa hotel in the centre of Merano, opened in 1906 as a neoclassical Belle Époque grand hotel on the grounds of the former Maur castle and converted over the last three decades into a longevity clinic that sells medical programmes rather than room nights. It trades as HOTEL PALACE GESTIONE SRL / HOTEL PALACE BETRIEBS GMBH, VAT IT01513520211, REA BZ 126205, share capital €50,000, registered at Via Cavour 2/4. 99 rooms — 23 singles, 32 doubles, 14 junior suites and 30 suites — spread across the main palace, the castle wing and a panoramic floor, with two Castle Rooftop Suites added in 2020 and a new Panoramic Suite in 2025. Inside sits a 6,000 m² Revital® Center including a 1,500 m² medical department on the fifth floor: an in-house analysis laboratory, DEXA scanning, 18 hydro-mud cabins, 6 hydro-jet cabins, 19 aesthetic-treatment cabins, hydrocolon therapy, acupuncture, osteopathy, oxygen-ozone therapy, a bioenergetic and nutrition department, an indoor pool, saunas, hammam, Kneipp path, a 31-metre outdoor pool and a Technogym fitness area. Since roughly 2008 the house has not sold a conventional stay at all: guests buy one of six Revital® programmes — Essenziale, Revital SPA®, Detox & Longevity, Relax & Balance, Sport & Remise en forme, Sport Performance — and accommodation is booked alongside it. Published programme fees run from €2,580 for a five-night Revital SPA to €6,480 for a seven-night Sport Performance, and the printed price list states explicitly that the fee does not include the room. Roughly 120 individually priced items sit behind that, from a €30 mindfulness module to a €680 Innovative Beauty course. Three in-house nutrition regimes (Palace Detox®, Palace Biolight®, Palace Sport®) are prepared by an executive chef who has been in post for over 25 years. The method was developed with Henri Chenot, whose name the hotel carried for around two decades as 'Palace Merano — Espace Henri Chenot'. That relationship ended around 2020, when Chenot opened his own purpose-built property in Switzerland; the Palace renamed the protocol Metodo Revital® in the same year, and its current published history page no longer mentions him. Revenue, which the Thrends database put at a stable ~€40M a year before 2020, fell to €8.6M in 2020 and €12.4M in 2021, and has since settled at €15.8M–€17.4M. The company has filed a loss in each of 2022, 2023 and 2024. The property has been owned by the Tosolini family since 2005, when the Bolzano construction entrepreneur Comm. Pietro Tosolini acquired it and rebuilt the 99 rooms and public areas with the French architect Michel Jouannet. Pietro Tosolini died in November 2022 aged 90; his son, the architect Paolo Tosolini, is now named as owner in the hotel's own press material. Stefano Plotegher has been CEO since 2024, alongside a general manager in post since 2006. Commercially the house sits outside the South Tyrolean hotel-tech ecosystem entirely: it does not appear in the LTS/Open Data Hub accommodation register, uses none of the regional booking or PMS vendors, and instead runs a single Italian luxury-hotel suite — website, CMS, booking engine and consent manager all supplied by Blastness — with Contactlab for newsletter and a separately built Next.js online shop on its own subdomain, carrying its own customer accounts. There is no member area, no guest login and no repeat-guest programme anywhere in the estate.
